The word Bunraku

First it is necessary to refer to the name of this genus theater. What we call Bunraku is a general term we use to the traditional puppet theater of Japan. But this was originally the name of one person and strictly speaking I believe we should use the term in exchange Ningyo Joruri. This refers to a Puppetry (ningyo doll means and by extension, puppet) which is accompanied by a kind of narrative recitation or call joruri.

The term Bunraku rolled out just makes it a little more of a mid-century Meiji period. This was done by the name of a person, Uemura Bunrakuken (1737-1810), who established a small theatre Ningyo Joruri in Osaka in 1805, nearly half a century after the full flowering of this type of Puppetry. In addition, the name was chosen for a theater, the Bunrakuza (za is a suffix for the names of business) in 1872.

The word Bunraku, taken from the name of Bunrakuken was used to refer to both the theater and the company. Soon a theater rival, Hikorokuza, was forced to close because of financial difficulties, leaving the Bunrakuza as the only professional theater of its kind in the entire country. (At that time. As is the case now, they had similar styles of puppeteers in the provinces, but they were amateurs, and the level of his artistry was low). Ningyo Joruri and Bunrakuza became synonymous until Bunraku began to be used to refer to the type of theatre itself as at present.

Bushmen Koryak is a group
Uruguayan theater puppets that
Integrate puppeteers, musicians,
craftsmen and teachers. The group
takes its name two tribes, a priori,
very different:
The Bushmen tribe today Of the
African continent and the Koryak,
Belonging to the Russian Siberia.

Bushmen Koryak is a company formed by seven youths in the city of Montevideo led by Martin Lopez Romanelli, which has become synonymous with a theatrical language hitherto unpublished, at least in this way - and articulation in our country.

THE world's greatest exponent black Theater has been called the "Black Theatre of Prague" - based on the ancient art of Japanese Bunraku, in which their local representatives are deepening independently, with results more than relevant.

"Big Cheat" consists of performances by puppets for whom nothing is impossible, in a totally black stage illuminated with UV light. , The actors, dressed in black also are blending with the background disappearing from view and handle figures whose colors shine with the light reaching the feeling that the figures move alone.

It is a craft and are themselves members of the company who build and give life, from various materials, the characters that the director designs.

What lies behind?

Then, in the darkness of the living room hidden from shippers, dolls highlights the clash of light, dramatically speaking beyond verbal language.

The composition of each depends on the seamless coordination among the seven members of the company: seven bodies in motion, seven sensitivities and seven simultaneous intentions, which achieves Romanelli orchestrate and qualify accurately.

The name is just that, a play on words that we were sympathetic when fundarlas as heading, but now signify an attitude, at least for us.

"As for the art ..."

"As for the technique we ran into each performance, we must say that we are self-taught, and although presentimos management inherent in the procedures of this art and improve every day dexterity, still unaware much of this technique.
However, we have full confidence that it makes us be more fresh and risky. We feel that the experimentation on work becomes the essence of this.
The process of creation begins at the workshop. The materials are mixed, at this early stage we are carpenters, electricians, mechanics, painters and cartoonists. At this early stage each of us are going encariñando with the puppet. What we built from inert materials foam, rubber, paint, what helped to be born, if we were every man Koriak Bushmen, a Pigmalión.
The process involves conducting a period of half a year, divided into three phases of two months each. "Is a craft work and are themselves members of the company who build and give life, from various materials, the characters that its director designs.

The first stage is the construction.

So we are dedicated entirely to the making of the dolls, systems and visual tricks. We worked on the soundtrack and weapons audio-visual material; continue with the development of displays, designs and packaging material; meditate clothing and everything needed for the staging.

The second stage is the mounting and staging.

We allocate one hour load of 8 hours during 5 days a week, which works exclusively in regard to the scene.

The third phase is what we call tuning and testing.

We perform functions outside the commercial circuit and lack of publicity. We try to provide scaffolding to show inundarlo life. We face the audience and see the results. Finally adjust to detail the entire spectacle depending on the findings derivemos testing.
Once we finished the process three presentations, with guests from the press, teachers and public and private bodies linked to cultural activities.

"The essence of our shows are resolved in two lines: the visual and climate, almost deliberately ignoring the text. This is not due to any particular theory, and in fact we do not exclude the use of this possibility in our literary implementation scene, but it is something we have dispensed enhancing and highlighting the creation of images and sensations of weather. try to give the theatrical art of a broad covering disciplines such as plastic (not only in the scenery and costumes ), the audiovisual (as a representative of narration and graphics) and the implementation of sound live (with the musicians as heroes of the story), ie Climate and Environment, precepts on which rests the art that conceive: stimulation of the senses. "

While this is a speech and hearing believe that the outcome is in charge and the best way to talk about the job is mostrándolo. Thus was born Koryak Bushmen as a company that seeks to prioritize work on the speech (perhaps this talk of the lack of texts in the early shows) which aims at starting a disciplined work with imagination filling the empty spaces of resources.

The intention is to bring to the stage theater techniques and how to sound upodobitvi transforming the room, or space chosen in a set where filming live puppets come alive, the images are rotated on an axis and even imaginary beyond reach, such as using climatic effects (drizzles, winds, temperature management of the site) and work on the aromas, all depending on the image and energy, fabricándole an environment can be improved. On how to look for a technical aesthetics itself and what it has to do with animation puppets are based on simplicity and Eastern discipline.

Beyond all this is trying to make an art project, serious, professional, diversified and especially with projection in time.

Commentary by Somossur:

"We saw them on the beach at Pocitos, praying that no rain. Are very, very good, and they laugh all ages. Is a fresh wind of renewal in the midst of provincialism that has flooded the current Uruguayan culture.
The presence of the authoritarian master of ceremonies orders and combines the appearance of different artists on the scene. As it could not be otherwise since the classic "failed artist", tries unsuccessfully in each act of the show to show his "sketch" thing that finally gets at the end of the show and very contrary to the opinion of the master of ceremonies that he was " distracted. "
Beyond this, Bosquinamos meet each with the best tradition of the show and Uruguayan européo based on a flawless performance in the torrent of air cirquero and magic ... "

Note: The format of the photos inserted tried to respect the size of the same scene that Bushmen as can be seen, is somewhat unusual. NR
